#55 Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats

Shocker, another chocolate peanut butter treat. But this one is festive! Of course, they don't have to be, but it's more fun when they are.

Noah and I stayed home and made dinner and dessert for Valentine's Day. Since dinner required a little effort, we thought we'd go simple on the dessert. One of Noah's favorite desserts is peanut butter Rice Krispie treats, so I thought we could do a twist on that, with chocolate Rice Krispies.

These are SO gooey, crunchy and chocolate-y, not to mention peanut butter-y. So many delicious traits for such a simple dessert. Not only is it simple, but it's inexpensive, too, which definitely helps.

All that has to be done for these is melting butter, marshmallows and peanut butter, mixing in cereal and M&M's, pouring it in a pan, and waiting anxiously for them to set up. Easy peasy!

This is honestly one of my new favorite treats. I love the chocolate and peanut butter flavors, of course, but the crunch of the M&M's makes it just that much better. You only need five ingredients to make these, so go now!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats
Prep Time: 10 minutes. Cook time: 0 minutes. Total time: 10 minutes.
Yields: 9x13 pan; about 15 squares

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons light butter
10 oz. package marshmallows
1/2 cup natural creamy peanut butter
5 1/2 cups chocolate rice puff cereal (such as Cocoa Krispies)
1 cup M&M's

Directions:

1. Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray. Set aside.

2. In a large pot over low-medium heat, combine and continuously stir butter and marshmallows until partially melted. Add peanut butter and stir until completely melted.

3. Once melted, remove from heat and quickly fold in cereal and M&M's until cereal is completely and evenly coated. Using a spatula coated in cooking spray, transfer to prepared pan. Spray hands or use spatula to press mixture down until evenly leveled. Let sit about 10 minutes before cutting and serving.

Enjoy!
